Privacy Policy
Steproll turns the runs, walks and rides recorded in Apple Health into receipts you can share. This policy explains what the app reads, where it keeps it, and what leaves your iPhone.
What Steproll reads
With your permission, Steproll reads the following from Apple Health (HealthKit). It only reads; it never writes to Health.
- Workouts (running, walking and cycling) and their routes
- Heart rate during those workouts
- Step count, walking + running distance and cycling distance
Where it is kept
- Everything Steproll reads stays on your iPhone, in a local cache used to draw your receipts and Route Wall.
- The cache is not uploaded to any server of ours. We do not operate a server that receives your health data.
- The cache is not stored in iCloud by Steproll and is excluded from iCloud and computer backups. If you get a new phone, your workouts come back through Apple's own iCloud Health sync and Steproll re-imports them.
- You can delete the cache at any time by deleting the app. You can turn off Steproll's access in the Health app › your profile › Privacy › Apps › Steproll.
What leaves your iPhone
- Apple Maps. When you open a workout's detail page or the Route Wall's Map view, the map is drawn with Apple Maps, which loads map tiles for that area from Apple. To show the city name, Steproll asks Apple's geocoding service for the place name of the workout's starting point, rounded to roughly 1 km. Nothing is sent to us.
- Receipts you share. An image leaves your iPhone only when you choose to save or share it. Receipts contain the numbers you see on them (distance, time, pace, heart rate and so on) and the shape of the route. They contain no map and no coordinates. The Route Wall receipt also prints the city name and shows your routes in their positions relative to each other.
- Purchases. Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We do not receive your payment details.
Route privacy
On the Route Wall and in statements, routes are not drawn near the places where you usually start and finish (on by default; you can turn it off in Me › Data & privacy). A single workout's receipt shows the whole shape of that route, without any map.
Analytics
This version of Steproll does not send usage analytics.
Notifications
Reminders and "your receipt is printed" notifications are created on your iPhone. No notification content is sent to or from a server of ours.
Widgets
Steproll's widgets show your streak, this week's distance and the shape of recent routes. They are drawn on your iPhone from a small copy of that data kept on the device (not in iCloud or backups). Lock Screen widgets show only the streak and the week's distance, never a route; anyone who can see your Lock Screen can see them. Home Screen widgets can also be reached from the Lock Screen (the widgets page), where iOS hides their routes and numbers while the iPhone is locked if you have turned off access to widgets when locked. You can remove any widget at any time.
Children
Steproll is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
